6am Birdsong

After testing I ventured home and arrived at Potong Pasir MRT shortly before the break of dawn. Upon exiting the MRT I was greeted by the familiar sound of a mass congregation of myna birds in the trees above the main road.

Without the hordes of traffic that the mynas usually have to compete with most of the time, their collective song could be heard with more clarity. However, to me their song sounds quite abrasive and loud – you can hear them several streets away. It makes me wondered if successive generations of mynas have become louder to enable communication with one another in loud urban settings.
